Tamil Nadu athletes continued their dominance on third day – Thursday -- in the 3rd national Panchayat Yuva Kreeda Aur Khel Abhiyan games being held in K.R. Stadium of Srikakulam.
Out of 12 medals, five went to Tamil Nadu as players from TN performed very well in discus throw and long jump categories. Tamil Nadu players Satish (42.51 mts) and Dinesh (36.12) won gold and bronze medals in discus while the silver went to Anil Kumar Yadav (39.79) of Uttar Pradesh.
In the category of girls, Tamil Nadu players G. Karthika (5.47 mts) won gold medal in long jump. Ava Khatoon (4.95 mts) of West Bengal won silver and I. Monisha (4.94) of TN received bronze in long jump. In 1,500 mts sprint, Harish Karanga of Uttarakhand won gold by finishing the race in 4.08.6 seconds. Pankaj Chowdary of Delhi stood second with 4.13.3 seconds. Bronze medal was given to Paramjeet (Haryana) who completed the race in 4.14.8 seconds.
Punjab girl Jyothi Saini won gold in 1,500 mts category by completing the race in 4.55.5 seconds. Tamil Nadu girl K. Priya (4.59.5 seconds) received silver and bronze went to Komal Choudary of Haryana as he finished race in 5.03.7 seconds. Tamil Nadu boy M.G. Santosh Kumar won gold in Taekwondo in 59 kgs category. P. Ravi Sekhar of Andhra Pradesh received silver and bronze went to Suraj Koli of Maharastra. Deepak Kumar of Jharkhand got second bronze in the same category. In the category of 63 kg, Bhim Bahadur Thapa of Arunachal Pradesh took the gold and silver went to Ajit Kumar of Maharastra.
Bronze medals went to Ananth Kumar (Bihar) and Satyam Kumar (Jharkhand). Jhakhand girl Maya Modak won gold in 44 kg category with her excellent performance in Taekwondo. Silver went to Maharastra and bronze medals have been received by Priya Pooja Kumari (Bihar) and Majuprabha (Kerala).
