Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry D. Purandeswari called for for providing access to cancer treatment for those living in remote areas.

Inaugurating the three-day Cancer CI-2013 organised by Apollo Hospitals and Cure Foundation here on Friday, she said a majority of cancers were preventable and pointed out that 50 per cent of them were associated with tobacco.

Executive Director, Apollo Hospitals, Sangita Reddy, called for providing holistic and affordable treatment.

More than 2,000 delegates from India and abroad are attending the conference which will focus on management of various cancers by adopting latest advances.
