Over 2,000 students take part in a massive motivation session
GUNTUR: For more than 2,000 students neatly dressed in their uniforms seated in the sprawling KKR Plaza in the city, it was a classroom with a difference. The lessons they learnt there were a tad different from the normal subjects.
At the massive motivation session for students of class X on Tuesday, magician and hypnotist B.V. Pattabhiram took to the stage explaining various life skills.
With just few days to go for the public examinations, over 2,000 students, inmates of various Social Welfare hostels in district, learnt these tips on concentration, motivation and self-belief at the camp christened `Vijaya Patham'.
The programme got off to a `magical' start, as Pattabhiram transformed a black scarf into a coloured one, triggering rapturous applause. He then went on to give a short lecture laced with witty anecdotes citing the success stories of President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and B.R. Ambedkar, who had a humble background. "Self-belief is the key to success. The road to success begins with a strong desire," he told the students. The hypnotist made the students practice relaxation and deep breathing exercises, to relieve stress and improve their concentration levels.
He explained about the successful technique of sky-walking (walking while looking up), yogic practices, like `vajrasanam' and `pranayam'.
"You should shun laziness, the attitude of procrastination and the habit of sleeping excessively," he said.
Social Welfare commissioner R. M. Gonela asked the students to make the best use of facilities provided by the State Government, while inaugurating the programme. He distributed study material. Zilla Parishad Chairperson Kuchipudi Vijaya, District Collector G. Jayalakshmi and deputy director Social Welfare R. Mallikarjuna Rao were also present.
