Former Minister P. Shankar Rao has demanded that the government drop all those Ministers whose names figured in the charge-sheets filed by the CBI that is probing the disproportionate assets case pertaining to YSR Congress president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy.
“Surveys conducted by independent organisations are presenting a not-so-rosy picture for the party. Unless steps are initiated to check corruption, the party is sure to receive a drubbing in the next elections,” he told reporters here on Thursday.
In addition to sacking ‘tainted’ Ministers, Dr. Shankar Rao said the party should reward leaders who had remained loyal. This was necessary as reports of sharp differences between top leaders including Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, his deputy C. Damodar Rajanarsimha and APCC chief Botcha Satyanarayana had demoralised the cadre. “Mere criticism of Mr. Jagan will not serve the purpose. We have to reward the cadre with nominated posts so that it will boost their morale,” he said.
