HYDERABAD: Doctors of various disciplines of Allopathy, Ayurveda, Homoeopathy, Unani, Siddha and Naturopathy on Wednesday announced the formation of a Joint Action Committee (JAC) with renowned nephrologist A. Gopal Kishan as chairman.

At a press conference here, he said the JAC would organise a public meeting ‘Telangana vaidya garjana (medical)’ here at Osmania Medical College, Koti.

About 50,000 practitioners of medical, para-medical and nursing fields are expected to attend.

He and conveners Babu Rao, Praveen and Srikanth said the ‘discrimination’ shown to Telangana region in MBBS admissions and employment as surgeons/professors, in promotions and offering of medical services in the government sector had forced them to come out openly in favour of a separate State. In the NTR Health University only three staffers from Telangana were appointed during the last 20 years. While 287 government hospitals were being run in Telangana, there are over 900 in the other two regions.
