A five-member business delegation from Sweden headed by Special Adviser - Ministry for Foreign Affairs Micael Hagman interacted with members of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) to explore the possibilities of private partnership in the field of solid waste management, water and sanitation and other areas.

During a brief interaction with the industry representatives headed by Sriram Ravi Chander, Chairman, CII Vizag zone and COO of Visakha Container Terminal, the delegation expressed its willingness to associate with the Indian industry and the local civic authority to start a pilot project in Visakhapatnam. The delegation members stressed on the possibility of generating bio-gas / energy from the industrial waste, which in turn can be converted to electricity.

The industry members requested the Swedish delegation to promote smaller recycling and energy-generating units, which could be easily installed within an industry, township or society. The session held at VCTPL was attended by Vice-chairman of CII Vizag Zone RVS Raju and immediate past chairman of CII Vizag K.V. Bhaskar.
