Sri Venkateswara University (SVU) has hastened the preparations for the upcoming visit of a peer team from National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), as the varsity enters its third cycle of re-accreditation.

Speaking to the media persons on Saturday, SVU Vice Chancellor W. Rajendra detailed the measures being followed by the NAAC steering committee to ensure a good grade this cycle. “The steering committee is collating all the data, department-wise, as reports from every department have to be submitted in the form of a presentation. NAAC accreditation is one of the main points in our agenda,” he added.

Prof. Rajendra expected the visit to be scheduled for the next year in the month of June or July. The varsity was awarded B + and A grades in the first and second cycles respectively.

PAC meet

The SVU Department of Physics has recently conducted the third Programme Advisory Committee (PAC) meeting on lasers, optics, atomic and molecular physics.

The meeting was held on behalf of Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), Department of Science and Technology, with the aim of evaluating new proposals and recommending them suitably for funding.

Improving life

Prof Rajendra, in his inaugural address, remarked that technological development should focus on improving life of people and promised to extend support from the varsity to execute active research in emerging fields, particularly lasers and optics.
