Passengers at satellite railway reservation counter had to wait for several hours

VISAKHAPATNAM: Suspension of power supply left a large number of passengers waiting in a long queue for several hours in front of the satellite railway reservation counter at the GVMC Civic Centre in Suryabagh here on Friday fretting and fuming.

Power supply was suspended in the area for several hours to undertake maintenance work and the two terminals of the railway satellite reservation centre did not function, as they were dependent on the power from AP Transco. On inquiry, the eSeva personnel at the Civic Centre informed that power was being provided free of cost to the two railway reservation terminals. But since a few days, whenever there was a power cut, power supply through a generator was not being extended to the ounters as per the directions received from their head office in Hyderabad as running the generator was expensive.

Even the eSeva centre runs only two of its terminals when the generator was used, the sources added. When contacted, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager of Waltair Division of East Coast Railway K.C. Pradhan said that the problem would be addressed to.
