HYDERABAD: Senior journalist T. Surender took over as the new Chairman of Press Academy of Andhra Pradesh (PAAP) here on Thursday. He will be in office for a term of two years.

Outgoing Chairman D. Amar handed over charge to Mr. Surender at a function held in the academy office.

A large number of working journalists, including past chairpersons of the academy I. Venkat Rao and K. Srinivas Reddy complimented Mr. Surender on the occasion.

Ministers J. Geetha Reddy (Information and Public Relations and Tourism), D. Sridhar Babu (Higher Education), K. Venkat Reddy (Information Technology and Sports) and V. Vasanth Kumar (Rural Development) and Deputy Speaker of Assembly N. Manohar were among others who wished Mr. Surender on his elevation. Speaking to media persons, Mr. Surender said that the academy would intensify its academic and training programmes for journalists. The new Chairman of Press Academy thanked Chief Minister K. Rosaiah for shouldering him with the responsibility.
