The suicide note purportedly written by MCA student Eshan Reddy in which he described some senior Congress and Telugu Desam leaders hailing from Telangana as “betrayers” has created commotion in the two parties.

Information Technology Minister K. Venkat Reddy, whose name figured in the letter, asserted that the Congress leaders were prepared for all sacrifices in pursuit of separate statehood to Telangana.

Stating that the Central government was favourably inclined to a separate Telangana, he advised students and youth against resorting to the extreme step.

TDP senior leader E. Dayakar Rao demanded an inquiry into Eshan's suicide claiming that a conspiracy to defame the Telugu Desam was under way in the name of separate Telangana. “Mention of my name in spite of my efforts is giving scope for doubts and there is a possibility of fabricating such letters,” he said.

Two other TDP leaders Nagam Janardhan Reddy and Kadiam Srihari claimed it was not proper to point an accusing finger at those who were sincerely working for the cause of separate statehood to the region. “We need to expose those who are insincere and shying away from the issue,” Mr. Srihari said.

He said the day was not far when separate Telangana State would be a reality and advised students not to sacrifice their lives. “Nothing can stop the formation of separate State and we should wait till we realise the long-cherished aspiration,” he said.
