SRIKAKULAM: Input subsidy of Rs.7.28 crore has been released for distribution to 51,891 farmers in the 21 drought-affected mandals in the district. According to district Collector N. Srikanth crops like paddy, groundnut and jowar on more than 16,200 hectares were lost due to drought and the input subsidy would be given as compensation. Paddy was the major crop which was damaged. Farmers in Nandigam and Saravakota mandals would get the highest input subsidy of over Rs.1 crore each, followed by Gara (Rs.61.20 lakh),Pathapatnam (Rs.53.35 lakh) and Meliaputti ( Rs.51.96 lakh) mandals.
