Hyderabad: Considering the need and growing importance of information security, the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (CDAC) is conducting a workshop on information security at Hotel Green Park, Greenlands, on Monday at 10 a.m.
The main objective of the programme is to create awareness on information security among youth, students, teachers and parents.

A detailed study about Internet usage habits of Indians reported that of the 54 million Internet users in India, 54 per cent children have private conversations with strangers through instant messaging and 27 per cent of them have talked about meeting strangers.
Moreover, the amount of time spent online exceeds more than 350 minutes per week for school kids, college students and non working women.
Considering the need for awareness about information security, Department of Information Technology, Ministry of Communications and Information Technology has started the Information Security Education and Awareness Programme.
The 90-minute workshop will see over 30 Central School teachers participating along with members from institutions such as IIIT Hyderabad, NIT, DOEACC and universities across the country.
The event will be presided over by G.V. Raghunathan, Senior Director, Head of Department of Information Technology and will be inaugurated by N. Ravi Shankar, Joint Secretary, Department of Information Technology.
