In order to empower the rural students to check crime against women, the Hyderabad based Rudramadevi Women Welfare Society organised an awareness programme on “crime against women” in Government Degree College in Jammikunta of Karimnagar district on Saturday.
President of the society C. Subhashini expressed concern over increasing crime against the women in the country.
Subashini, a practicing advocate in the High Court, also explained to the students about various legal aspects.
During the interactive session, the students suggested that the media should give more coverage to cases convicted in the crime against women.
The students also expressed concern over outside ‘settlement’ of cases owing to social problems in the society.
‘Promote moral values’
College principal Narayan Reddy stressed on the need for the promotion of value based education from the school level.
The women empowerment department of the college organised the programme. College faculty Suhasini, Lion past governor P Chander and others were also present.
