Plan to hold a

public meeting in the wake of unrest in Telangana

VIJAYAWADA: The students of 14 universities in coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema regions want to keep the Samaikyandhra agitation alive by organising meetings and conferences in the wake of uproar and violence in Telangana region for separate State.

In all likelihood, the students of these universities will organise a public meeting here in the next one week, so as to make the activists of Samaikyandhra ready to meet any evolving situation following the current agitation in Telangana.

Their intention is to keep the activists on alert till there is total clarity on the contentious issue of bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.

Samaikyandhra Samrakshana Samithi president Naraharisetti Srihari, who is coordinating with student representatives, said on Friday that the students will be rallied together and made the face of the united Andhra Pradesh agitation just as their counterparts in Telangana were being projected.

He lamented that violence was being perpetrated in the Telangana agitation with its leaders masquerading as students.

SSS general secretary Konijeti Ramesh said there was good response from the student representatives and leaders of all the universities to the Samaikyandhra agitation with all of them getting ready to shoulder future responsibilities to stop bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.
