MAHABUBNAGAR: Protesting over the dilly-dally tactics by the UPA-led Central Government over the issue of separate Telangana, students of Palamuru University here have undertaken different protest demonstration on Monday.

Some students got half-tonsured, a batch of students performed “Porlu Dandalu” on the road by removing their shirts, another group of students tied the pictures of Lagadapati Rajagopal and Nannapaneni Rajakumari to a dog and took it around. Later they staged a rasta roko for some time.

The fast-unto-death undertaken by 16 students on the campus entered the second day. Leaders of Political parties expressed their solidarity to the students. The leaders visit the camp include former MP from Mahabubnagar D. Vittal Rao, D.C.C.B. chairman K. Veera Reddy. Former MLA Jacherla C. Laxma Reddy, DCC president S. Prakash, Municipal chairperson Obedullah Kotwal.

While members of ABVP took out motorbike rally. Other organisations also took out different protest rallies in the town. Members of JAC of teachers and employees continued their relay hunger strike.

Activists of pro-Telangana burnt the effigy naming it as leaders of united State at Gadwal town. They also organised human chain. Members of JAC held rasta roko at Kollapur town. While members of various women organisations detained a train at Ajjakollu village near Kothakota town .

Fast foiled

Karimnagar Staff Reporter writes: The Karimnagar town police foiled the fast-unto-death programme launched by the students of Satavahana University on Monday.

Following the deterioration of health condition of five students, who launched their fast-unto-death programme demanding Telangana State since last four days, the police have swung into action and arrested the students amid protests . The JAC leaders resisted the arrests of the fasting students but the police, who were present in large numbers, shifted them to the government headquarters hospital for treatment.

The arrested students include Chaitanya, K. Nagaraju, N. Nagaraju, Hanumandlu and Surender. In the protest against the arrests of the students, the JAC leaders staged a massive rasta roko at the NTR statue traffic on the bus road. However, the police pacified the agitationists and resorted normalcy. In the meantime, the ABVP activists have staged a massive rasta roko at Ambedkar cross roads, a rasta roko at Alugunur cross roads . The Karimnagar town Autorickshaw Association leaders have also took out a procession with the autos demanding the separate Telangana State.

Women under the supervision of corporator Guggilla Jayashree staged a rasta roko at Mankammathota.
