KARIMNAGAR: In a humane gesture, students of Karimnagar town have contributed their pocket money and raised funds from philanthropists to provide treatment to an 11-year-old girl suffering from thalassaemia since her childhood.
Moved by the plight of J. Shiva Priya of Hyderabad, the students under the aegis of Veer Samaaj, a students welfare society and a voluntary organisation formed by medicos and students of the town, have collected Rs. 1 lakh and handed over the money to the girl’s father J.L. Ram.
When the pathetic condition of the girl was brought to the notice of Veer Samaaj president Vikranth Singh, he informed the members of the organisation consisting of over 3,000 students from various educational institutions.
The members of Veer Samaaj had handed over a cheques for Rs. 1 lakh to the father of the girl on Thursday.
