TIRUPATI: With there being no apparent response from the government, the state-wide strike by the students of the Veterinary University entered the fourth day today demanding among other things the introduction of ‘carry forward’ system in the examination as is being allowed by the Veterinary universities of most other states in the country.

The students boycotting classes held demonstration in front of the campus and lamented that the absence of the ‘carry-forward’ system was playing such a havoc with the career of the students that it forced them to continue in the same class even if a student failed in a mere one paper. They cited in this connection the classic case of a particular student who was still in the second year for the last 12 years.

The striking students also demanded among otherthings an increase in their stipend from the present Rs.2500 to Rs.5000, providing berth to the students in the university’s Academic Council, considering medical certificates in finalising ’attendance shortage’ cases.
