The Mozilla club was inaugurated at the Jayamukhi Institute of Technological Sciences, Narsampet, through an event ‘Mozilla Mania’ under CSI’s (Computer Society of India) student branch, in association with Mozilla India Community.

Mozilla India lead, P. Vineel Reddy was the chief guest while Mozilla India community IT mentor Shoumu Deb from Red Hat Linux, Chennai was the guest of honour at the event.

College director P. Rangaiah and joint secretary TVRN Reddy, along with the guests inaugurated the Mozilla club, Warangal.

The chief guest in his address said that Mozilla, a non-profit organisation gives an opportunity, especially for the involvement of students in FOSS (Free Open Source Software). He appreciated the support given by the management for hosting this Mozilla event.

Mr. Faisal Aziz, Mozilla student representative from Pune, has been contributing for localisation. Srikanth Namu Mozilla, representative from Karimnagar along with other students of Mozilla club, turned up for the event. The event saw a turnout of 400 students from various engineering colleges in and around Warangal selected through online registration.

A special club for women - ‘WoMOZ’(women in Mozilla) too was inaugurated with a session by Hema Bhanu, followed by a session by Mr. Shomu Deb, who introduced Mozilla products such as Firefox mobile OS.

Mr. Jayadev Gyani said that “involving students in industry-oriented workshops gives them exposure to practical approaches followed in the industry”. A total of 43 student organisers from B.Tech CSE/IT were involved in conducting this programme.

For the first time in Warangal, two parallel hands-on sessions were conducted by Mozilla representatives. One session was on Add-on-development for Web Firefox browser conducted by Shoumu Deb and the other session was on localisation, conducted by Faisal.
