VIJAYAWADA: A teenager committed suicide by jumping from third floor of his college building at Gudavalli near here on Tuesday.

Malavath Jagadish, 17, a native of Munipalli in Nizamabad district, joined in intermediate course at Narayana IIT Academy at Gudavalli 15-days ago under the Indira Kranthi Pathakam.

Jagadish was reportedly suffering from malaria for the last few days. On Tuesday, he went to third floor of the college and jumped from there. The college authorities informed the police immediately, and the boy died on the way to hospital. Jagadish, however, did not leave any suicide note, the police said.

“We are yet to ascertain the reasons that drove him to take the extreme step,” said P. Kanaka Rao, SI of Gannavaram police station, who is investigating the case. Mr. Rao also said they need to find out whether the boy was ‘home sick or some other reasons’ were there behind the death. The parents of the deceased could throw light in this regard, he added.
