Protest against conduct of classes during summer vacation

Cancellation of recognition to Maharshi High School demanded

Student organisations submit memorandum to Gandhi's statue

Kadapa: Students Federation of India (SFI) activists took out a rally in the town and agitated in front of the DEO's office and locked it on Friday.

They alleged that corporate institutions, in spite of orders issued by the government not to conduct classes in summer, continued to ignore the orders. Recent protests led to manhandling of the students, yet the DEO and the officials failed to take action against the corporate institutions and the government officials were being bribed, they alleged.

‘Amenities lacking'

Corporate institutions in the city had not met the requirements as per the government rules. Amenities like toilets, drinking water and playgrounds were not seen, but the fee structures were high and children were forced to attend classes in the scorching summer. The institutions were minting money from the middle class, said the student organisations. They demanded the cancellation of Maharshi High School recognition and to take action against the management for manhandling the student organisation leaders. One of the staff members said that they did not dare to question the corporate management and take action due to various reasons.

Student activists forced the staff members to leave and locked the office. They also submitted the memorandum to Mahatma Gandhiji's statue.

The march was led by the SFI district president, Pavan. District secretary N. Sivaram, Haribabu, DYFI secretary Dastagiri, Raju, Sudarshan, Obulesu, Shankar and others.
