Nagarjuna Sagar Left Canals Distributory Committee No. 29 Chairman Alla Venkata Gopala Krishna Rao attended the bio diversity conference at Hyderabad.
Mr. Rao, disclosing the details of his presentation at the conference, spoke on modern ‘agriculture-good and bad-and bio diversity’. In the presentation, Mr. Rao stressed on according top priority to water harvesting to protect the bio diversity. Importance should be given to conservation of minor water resources. And effective implementation of integrated watershed programmes was need of the hour. Genetically modified crops would have adverse impact on the bio diversity, and traditional crops would vanish if the trend continued, he said.
