KADAPA: Chikungunya is prevalent in Kadapa, Proddatur, Jammalamadugu and Rayachoti areas in Kadapa district, District Medical and Health Officer T. Venkataramana Reddy said on Sunday.

Addressing a meeting of PHC doctors here, he told doctors of primary health centres to strive with coordination to curb its incidence. He stressed the need for creation of public awareness on the preventive measures.

Underscoring the need for necessary steps taken to prevent spread of chikungunya in summer, he advised doctors to treat affected persons immediately without any delay.

He directed a house-to-house survey on incidence of chikungunya and submission of a report.

Dr. Venkataramana Reddy advised people not to store water in households and use utensils and pots after washing them properly and drying them.

He asked District Panchayat Officer to ensure public announcements in all villages. Assistant professors Sujitha and Nagasrilatha explained about chikungunya prevention.
