A street where noted poet Rayaprolu Subba Rao had lived in his early years was named after him here on Saturday on the occasion of his 120th birth anniversary by Municipal Commissioner P. Rama Rao.
Mr. Rama Rao said Subba Rao's literature had fostered the spirit of patriotism and continues to inspire the current generation.
Rayaprolu's patriotic verse “Whatever country you go to, whatever land you set your foot on, whichever seat you ascend, praise the motherland, maintain its dignity,” is well known, he said.
Rayaprolu was born on March 17, 1892, in Garlapadu village in old Bapatla taluq. He studied in Bapatla Board School.
