KARIMNAGAR: The Self-Employed Workers Society (SEWS), a voluntary organisation in collaboration with the State Government, had taken up the ambitious Vilasagar lift irrigation project to provide irrigation facilities to about 698 acres and benefit 14 villages of Boinpally mandal.

SEWS chairman Chennamaneni Ramesh formally laid the foundation stone for laying pipeline works for the lift irrigation scheme in Vilasagar village of Boinpally mandal on Monday.

The project would be taken up at a cost of Rs. 4 crores.

A total of 14.2 km pipeline would be laid to lift the water from the three wells which were already dug at Elgandala village through six 80 HP submersible pump sets.

A separate 500 KVA transformer would be installed to provide power supply to lift the water into the Vilasagar tank from where it would be used for irrigation purposes through gravity.
