Visakha Steel Workers' Union (VSWU) honorary president Ch. Narsinga Rao on Thursday urged Union Minister of State for HRD D. Purandeswari to direct Visakhapatnam Steel Plant to consider its employees who had obtained engineering degree in the distance mode for Management Trainee job.
During an interaction with the Union Minister, Mr. Rao, a CITU leader, explained about the objections raised by the VSP management. The Minister reportedly promised to look into the matter and issue necessary guidelines.
Some the employees, who had applied for Management Trainee post, said the qualifications acquired by them from AU and JNTU in the distance mode were recognised by the UGC, the AICTE and the Distance Education Council, and their batch-mates had secured Management Trainee jobs in SAIL, ONGC and other premier public sectors.
