Deputy Chief Minister C. Damodar Rajanarasimha stated that he has confidence in the Congress leadership that it will give statehood to Telangana as it is well aware of sufferings of the region’s people over decades.
Talking to mediapersons here on Sunday, he said there was no need for Telangana Congress leaders to take up Delhi visits as the party high command was keenly studying the issue.
Asked what would be their plans if a positive decision was not announced by the Centre by January 28, Mr. Rajanarasimha said there was no reason for them not to believe in the party leadership.
They would reveal future plans, if required.
“I am sure Rahul Gandhi will campaign for Congress in two States – Telangana and Seemandhra – for 2014 elections and the party will romp home in both as well as at the Centre under the young leadership”, Mr. Rajanarasimha said.
When asked whether TRS would merge with the Congress in the event of formation of Telangana, the Deputy Chief Minister said it was question to be posed to TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao and not him.
