The State government has decided to use Section 5 (3) of the Inter-State River Water Disputes Act of 1956 under which the Brijesh Kumar Tribunal was formed in 2004 on sharing of Krishna water, to file the review petition against the Tribunal award seeking justice to Andhra Pradesh.

P. Ramaraju, chief engineer, Irrigation (Inter-state & Water Resources), said under this Section of the Act, the Union Government or a State involved could seek explanation or guidance on the award within three months from the pronouncement of the award.

As part of the exercise, he said, a meeting would be held with these experts and specialists soon for broad-based discussions with them.
