Jupally claims good response to Praja Patham

MAHABUBNAGAR: The State government would issue 11 lakh new ration cards to eligible families soon, said Minister for Civil Supplies Jupally Krishna Rao.

The Minister was addressing “Punaranktha Dinotsavam” at Zilla parishad mini stadium grounds in Mahabubnagar on Saturday. He also said that his government has sanctioned over 2 crore ration cards during last 4 years and during the recent official survey illegal card holders were weeded out. Referring of ongoing irrigation projects, the Minister said that the district will witness all-round development once these projects are completed. Water from three projects -- Kalwakurthy, Nettempadu and Bheema first phase -- would be released by December-end.

He said that 80 percent migration could be arrested by implementing the NREGS and every year Rs. 300 crore were being spent through this scheme by providing daily wages.

The Minister said there was a good response to the Praja Patham programme and major problems relating to supply of drinking water and electricity were sorted out on the spot and the remaining problems raised by the people would also be sorted out.

Minister for Small Scale Industries D.K. Aruna said that the welfare and developmental schemes which were implemented by the former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy will be continued by this government. She said that a re-inspection would be done and ration cards and pensions would be given to eligible families.

Zilla parishad chairman K. Damoder Reddy has said that funds would not be a constraint in mitigating the drinking water problem in the district

Presiding over the meeting Collector M. Purushotham Reddy said the Praja Patham programme was successfully completed in 1348 grampanchayats and 113 municipal wards in the district. Sixty four mandal officers' teams visited the villages and noted down the public problems and preparing a consolidated report to take further action.

Legislators -- N. Rajashwar Reddy, Dr.Abraham and Municipal chairman Obedullah Kothwal also spoke. Later, the Minister distributed assets and bank linkage loans among women groups and beneficiaries. Joint collector Chiranjeevulu welcomed the gathering.
