VIJAYAWADA: The last date for Building Penalisation Scheme (BPS) is likely to be extended by a month from March 31. The State Government is toying with the idea of extending the last date in view of representations received from various quarters and also because of a case pending in the High Court, which stayed the issuance of regulation certificates to building owners for time being following a petition filed by a resident of Hyderabad questioning the BPS and LRS. The court is likely to pronounce its judgment on Thursday. As some people have not submitted their applications expecting that the court judgment would go against the scheme, the Government, which is hoping that the judgment would be in its favour, has decided to extend the last day. A file is being circulated in the secretariat and the Chief Minister has to give a final nod to the proposal. If decided, the Government may issue a GO in a couple of days.
