KURNOOL: Telugu Desam Party leaders on Monday alleged serious financial crisis in the State saying the government was unable to mobilise funds even for helping cyclone victims.

Talking to reporters here, TDP leaders -- Muddu Krishnama Naidu, Nagesh and K.E. Krishna Murthy -- said populist schemes started by the previous YSR regime landed the Rosaiah government in deep trouble. YSR barely managed the show by compelling the Centre to release funds for various activities. But Mr. Rosaiah was unable to do the same resulting in financial crisis, they said.

Mr. Naidu said the government introduced an ambitious budget but was hard-pressed to mobilise resources. Later, addressing the general body meeting of TDP district unit, he called for unity among cadres to face the Congress criticism saying the Congress Ministers were indulging in counter attack unable to manage governance. Mr. Krishna Murthy called for dismissal of the Congress government in the State for the financial mess.

Meanwhile, Somisetty Venkateswarlu was elected president of the TDP district unit and Mab Saheb, the general secretary.
