Launching a tirade against Telugu Desam Party's Polit Bureau member Yanamala Ramakrishnudu for criticising Chief Minister K. Rosaiah, Panchayat Raj Minister Botcha Satyanarayana on Thursday said that this was the time for providing relief to rain victims, but not to politicise the calamity.
Addressing a press conference along with his Cabinet colleague Pilli Subhash Chandrabose, Mr. Satyanarayana said that the Congress government in the State was responding to the calamities immediately and distributing help to victims without wasting time.
“We have distributed rice and kerosene to 1.5 lakh families in East Godavari district. Plans are afoot to distribute the aid to another 20,000 families in the days to come,” he said, adding that the relief and rehabilitation package was as per the guidelines of the Central government.
“Even if there is no reimbursement for the Central government, the State will not stop the disbursement of the aid. Our aim is to provide help to the needy,” he said, while advising Mr. Ramakrishnudu to compare the package announced by the present government with that of the TDP-led government during its regime.
“It is not fair on the part of Mr. Ramakrishnudu, who formed ethics committee for the elected representatives during his tenure as Assembly Speaker, to violate the ethics. We must respect the Chief Minister, but not to criticise him for our political mileage,” he said.
