The Department of Stamps and Registrations will check all the agreements, wherever essential, periodically for any deliberate evading of stamp duty and the department officers are on this job regularly, Stamps and Registrations Minister Thota Narasimham has said. Reacting to the news published in these columns on the evading of Rs.35.46 crore of Stamp Duty by the Vijayawada Toll Way Pvt. Limited., during their agreement with the National Highway Authorities of India (NHAI), he cross-checked the facts on Monday with the District Registrar of Stamps and clarified that a counter was being filed in the court and that a notice was served on the company.

The Minister said here during a programme at Vuyyuru that the officials of the department would go into all other such contracts if need be to get the revenue due to the department.
