APNGOs Home witnesses a flurry of activity on Sunday, marking the commencement of the filing of nominations
The stage is set for the election of office bearers to the AP Non-Gazetted Officers Association, the employees union spearheading the agitation against the bifurcation of the State.
The APNGOs Home in the city witnessed a flurry of activity on Sunday, marking the commencement of the filing of nominations.
Association president P. Ashok Babu, who is contesting to retain the post, filed his nomination along with his panel of 17 members amid an impressive gathering of supporters.
He will be pitted against the association’s Prakasam district unit president Basheer who is leading the rival panel.
The contest assumes significance amid reports of differences between members of the APNGOs association.
Mr. Ashok Babu, however, made light of such reports and said there was no significance attached to the elections which were apolitical in nature.
He expressed confidence that he had the support of the majority of the 16 units across the State.
Though the elections were slated to be held on June 30, they had to be put on hold following the court’s direction.
The agitation will continue once the election process is through, he added.
