Even as the annual examinations are round the corner, the students of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) in Choppadandi mandal of Karimnagar district are forced to return home following an indefinite strike launched by teaching, non-teaching and mess workers of the school since Wednesday.

On Thursday, the class six students were forced to return home following the strike.
The school authorities were also planning to send back students studying up to eighth class on Friday and later extend it to other sections if the strike was intensified. Presently, the school management was operating the hostel mess with the temporary staff members.
The striking employees were demanding applicability of Central Civil Service (Pension) Rules of 1972, medical reimbursement, recruitment of hostel wardens and matrons and such other benefits.
Parents-Teachers Committee coordinator B. Narasimha Reddy said that presently only the principal of the school was working and the students are worried lot as their examinations are nearing fast.
He appealed to the government to resolve the crisis at the earliest so that the students do not suffer as exams are approaching fast.
