Agitating employees stage demonstrations
Normal work in all 64 post offices in the district was affected on Wednesday following an agitation by the National Federation of Postal Employees over their problems. Employees of the post offices, including head post office, staged demonstrations demanding immediate setting up of 7th Pay Commission, five promotions to all the employees during their service period, regularisation of all the extra department employees who are working in rural areas.
Association district wing president G. Veerabhadra Rao, other leaders, including K. Chandrasekhara Rao, J. Jyotiswara Rao, V. Vijayakrishna, raised slogans against the government.
They also said all the postal employees were opposing the Provident Fund Regulatory Development Authority Bill. They sought merger of 50 per cent of DA with the wages. “Many employees in rural areas are working with meagre salaries. The government should ensure better salaries and service conditions for them. It should fill all the vacancies to ease the work burden on the existing staff,” said Mr. Veerabhadra Rao.
