NELLORE: The education department officials did just before the commencement of Intermediate examinations in the district a few days ago, and has announced the change of examination centre for tenth class students two days before the examinations. The officials gave the same instructions given to the Intermediate students earlier. “We request the students to observe the change in the examination centre, take fresh hall tickets and appear for examinations in the newly allotted centre,” say the authorities.
Parents and students union leaders allege that many private and government schools and colleges are running with lack of basic amenities in the district. “Some schools are unfit for conducting examinations, but the officials are allotting centres in those schools without visit the schools in advance. The authorities are changing the centres at the last moment creating tension among the children,” they said.
It may be recalled that the officials allotted new examination centres of about 400 students in the district and announced the change of centres just a day before the Intermediate examinations. . Students and parents were seen searching in streets for the new centres on the first day of the Intermediate examinations.
Leaders of various students union leaders met the Joint Collector and urged to take steps for providing benches, drinking water, electricity, toilets and other facilities in all schools allotted for SSC examinations scheduled to held from March 23 in the district.
