Both writers had the leanings of Communist ideology in their works
Sri Sri transformed from romantic poet to a revolutionary poet
KURNOOL: Sahiti Sadassu, literary organisation, conducted a meeting in memory of Telugu poets Srirangam Srinivasa Rao (Sri Sri) and Balagangadhar Rao Tilak here on Sunday. P.L. Srinivasa Reddy, professor of Telugu at Sri Krishnadevaraya University, tried to draw a comparative picture of both writers who had the leanings of Communist ideology.
Dr. Reddy said both writers devoted their life and works to social reformation. Sri Sri, who started his career as traditional writer at a young age, was transformed from romantic poet to a revolutionary poet.
Tilak remained to be reformist and earned huge fame for his few noteworthy works. Both writers chose to write about the common man, his life and suffering while some extreme approach was found in Sri Sri.
President of Sahiti Sadassu Chandrasekhara Kalkura presided over the function while secretary J.S.R.K. Sarma summed up the speakers.
