‘YSR was an able politician who dedicated his life for State’s development’
HYDERABAD: Sri Ravi Shankar and the Art of Living family across the globe have sent condolences/prayers to Vijayalakshmi Reddy, wife of Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, following his demise. They said YSR was an able politician/Chief Minister who dedicated his life for State’s development.
Harish Chandra, general manager, Cement Corporation of India’s Tandur factory in a message to the bereaved family conveyed the employees’ condolences. He said Dr. Reddy had dedicated his life for the welfare of the poor till his last breath.
Babu Rao Varma, president, Freedom Fighters’ Forum for Social Justice and Swatantra Senani Samiti, in a statement described him as the ‘most popular Chief Minister’ who endeared himself to all sections of society and had commitment for State’s development.
The AP State Cooperative Marketing Federation Ltd at its condolence meeting praised Dr. Reddy for his foresight in assessing in advance the needs of farmers and ensuring they reach them. The Commissionerate of Family Welfare and the Chamber of Handloom Industry and Commerce at their meetings expressed grief. Anil Punetha, Commissioner, chaired the meeting. Venkanna Netha, president, said the chamber praised Dr. Reddy’s bold initiatives in response to problems facing the handloom industry. It welcomed K. Rosaiah’s assumption of Chief Minister’s office. The governing body of Indira Kranti Patham, Directorate of Animal Husbandry, Department of Rural Development and Directorates of Horticulture and Archaeology and Museums at separate meetings expressed grief and shock over Dr. Reddy’s death. They adopted condolence resolutions.
Several organisations including AP Retired College Teachers’ Association, APSRTC Staff and Workers’ Union, AP Group I Services (Direct Recruit) Officers’ Association, Telugu Academy, AP All-India Services Pensioners’ Association, All-India United Christians Movement for Equal Rights, AP Prohibition and Excise Head Constables Tree Markers and Constables’ Association, AP chapter of Indian Forest Services Officers’ Association and AP Vaddera Sangam also condoled the death.
The AP Industrial Infrastructure Corporation decided to rename its financial centre as ‘YSR Bhavan’. The APSRTC Chairman, Vice-Chairman and Managing Director and union members paid homage to Dr. Reddy.
