A canvas of myriad colours and cheerful faces welcomed the parents and visitors at the Loyola Public School grounds as the annual sports meet got under way.

The students dressed in their respective colours of their houses were all excited about the meet which was a test of their skill and endurance. The events lined up for the day were, volleyball, football, athletics and other sports.

In his welcome address, Superior and correspondent Amara Rao said sports has shown that it could break all manmade barriers and unite people of all groups under one roof.

Principal Antony spoke about the importance of single mindedness to achieve one’s goals.

Fr. Antony said that the Sports Meet 2012 reminded him of a great soul like, Fr. Yeddanapalli Papaiah-the founder of LPS on whose memory the sports meet was being organised this year.

It was Fr. Papaiah’s foresight, vision, strategy, optimism, dynamism, perseverance and hard work which had brought lot of change in LPS for the past 49 years. The LPS would be celebrating its golden jubilee in 2013, he added.
