District officials distributed sports kits and other benefits to tribal students on Tuesday fulfilling the promise made under the SC, ST sub-plan and Indiramma Kalalu programme.
Bicycles were sanctioned for 12 tribal children as they were finding difficult to walk 2 km every day to attend school at the Indirammanagar Girijana Colony in Vinjamuru mandal limits.
The school there had classes up to 5th.
Participating in Indiramma Kalalu programme, District Collector B. Sridhar promised to create better facilities for the tribal schoolchildren to encourage them to continue their studies. When the beneficiaries visited the Collectorate, Mr. Sridhar handed over sports kits, carom boards, cricket, chess and skipping material.
In addition to this, 35 kg of rice was sanctioned to 170 Yanadi families of Mangalakatta in Buchireddypalem limits. Mr. Sridhar also promised to sanction them house sites.
