Minister for Tribal Welfare P. Balaraju, the in-charge district minister, has said that he will soon hold a meeting with the public representatives of all political parties from the district and the engineering officials concerned in Hyderabad to speed up the construction of the pending irrigation projects in the district. Speaking at the District Review Committee meeting here late on Friday evening, the minister said he would personally assess the status of the pending irrigation projects and strive to ensure their expeditious completion with the active cooperation of the elected public representatives of all the political parties. Earlier, the TDP elected public representatives expressed their serious concern over the “inordinate delay” in the disbursement of input subsidy to the farmers those who had suffered crop losses due to natural calamities in the last two years. They also alleged that the input subsidy was misappropriated by middlemen in some villages in Khammam urban and a few other mandals. Minister for Horticulture R. Venkat Reddy, Deputy Speaker Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Khammam MP Nama Nageswara Rao and MLA T. Nageswara Rao, MLCs K. Dileep Kumar and P. Sudhakar Reddy were present.
