“Union Minister Kapil Sibal, who has recently been given the additional charge of Telecom, is a good lawyer, but his argument defending Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in the 2G spectrum scam will not win him the case,” said Telugu Desam president N. Chandrababu Naidu here on Saturday. Before starting a tour of the city, Mr. Naidu, while addressing a press conference, lashed out at the Congress, its president Sonia Gandhi, the Prime Minister and Chief Minster K. Rosaiah saying scams were coming to light and the whole world was shocked to see the volume of money involved in corruption. It was a disgrace to the country, he added.
Mr. Naidu wanted the Prime Minister to quit honourably since the Union Cabinet had collective responsibility over every decision taken by the government and Dr. Manmohan Singh could not avoid responsibility since there were business rules for the Prime Minister.
The TDP leader said the Congress was taking advantage of being in power at the Centre and in many States. When the fruits of economic reforms were ready to be enjoyed, the party was resorting to large scale corruption. He wanted strong measures to end corruption by involving people in the fight against the menace.
