The East Godavari District and Cocanada Town Passengers Association has sought the railway authorities to operate special train from Kakinada to Allahabad to facilitate pilgrims attending ‘Maha Kumbh Mela.’

President of the association Y.D. Rama Rao, also the member of the Zonal Railway Users Consultative Committee, in a press release here on Friday, said the ‘Maha Kumbha Mela’ would take place only once in 144 years. “This is the reason why people belonged to Hindu faith wish to participate in the mela,” he said, adding that there was no direct train facility from the city to Allahabad. He further said that the facility of getting train tickets reserved too was not available in the city, due to which people of the city had no access to the train tickets to Allahabad.

Mr. Rama Rao urged the railway authorities to operate direct special trains to Allahabad from the city till March 10, so that people from Kakinada and surrounding regions could participate in the religious event.
