Collector M. Veerabrahmaiah on Wednesday asked special officers appointed for panchayats to visit villages at least four days in a week to monitor sanitation, drinking water, and other amenities as the passing period was crucial for outbreak of epidemics.
At a meeting with MPDOs and special officers at ZP conference hall here, the Collector said the government sanctioned Rs. 5.5 crore under the 13th Finance Plan for panchayats and asked them to utilise the sum.
He said, after the term of the local bodies ended last month, there were reports that sanitation in panchayats deteriorated completely.
Hence, the special officers must pay special attention to sanitation and limit their office work for two days, i.e. Mondays and Saturdays.
The ZP CEO and the District Panchayat Officer would make surprise visits to panchayats to assess performance of the special officers, he said and asked RWS Assistant Engineers also to participate in field visits.
On sanctioning of loans to beneficiaries, the Collector said since bankers had agreed to release sanctions by September 24 for grounding units, departmental officers must send proposals with the consent of bankers. Additional Joint Collector M. Rama Rao and ZP CEO Kondaiah Sastry were present.
