The Special Court for CBI cases on Friday accepted the request of Koneru Rajendra Prasad, an accused in the Emaar Properties case and chairman of the Trimex Group, for allotment of special class cell in Chanchalguda prison.

The special judge made a recommendation to the district Collector and Magistrate of Hyderabad, under whose supervision all jails in his jurisdiction function, to allot a special cell to Prasad after turning down the opposition to the status by the CBI. The Superintendent of Chanchalguda prison, in consultation with the District Magistrate, will take a decision on allotment of either Class A or Class B cell based on the background and health status of the accused and availability of the cells under Rule 730 of the AP Prisons Rules 1979.
