PMC to evaluate technical efficacy on behalf of HUDA
Strip alignment plan, location, soil-testing concluded Shifting of streetlights, trees on the anvil
HYDERABAD: The HUDA has appointed Project Management Consultant for the ongoing work on Elevated Expressway from Mehdipatnam to Shamshabad.
The construction agency Simplex Infrastructure which is executing the project has its own consultant but it is the Project Management Consultant who would supervise the technical efficacy of the work on behalf of HUDA.
Bangalore-based Span was finalised as the PMC recently through a tender process . The other two were M/s Smec of Australia and CES of Delhi.
It is the responsibility of the PMC to finally evaluate and approve hundreds of structural design plans submitted by consultant of the construction agency and monitor the works, HUDA Chief Engineer Vivek Deshmukh said.
Giving an over view of the progress on Expressway, Mr.Deshmukh said that strip alignment plan, identifying the location for over 300 piers on ground for the 11.5 km Elevated Expressway, design and fabrication of shuttering of pre-cast segments, launching of girder scheme and soil investigation have been completed.
Meanwhile Principal Secretary, Municipal Administration and Urban Development convened a meeting recently in his chambers with officials from utility service agencies like APCPDCL, Transco, Metro Water Works and MCH, Rajendranagar municipality for shifting of street lights, water pipes, plants to facilitate faster widening of inner ring road that begins at Hyderguda area and meet the deadline of the project.
Shift of utilities
AP Transco, Metro Water Works identified the utilities to be shifted and the HUDA released the amount required to carry it out for road widening as well as for the Expressway from Mehdipatnam to Rethibowli. The Municipal Corporation has been requested to translocate the trees planted along the median , said Mr.Deshmukh.
The Expressway project would be executed in the most modern way without disturbing the traffic. It was precise designing and planning that would take maximum effort for smooth execution .
The target is to provide connectivity to the International Airport by March 2008, he said.
