Four leaders named as accused in the case of building tomb and ‘ghat’ for UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi surrendered to the police here on Monday, but not before taking out a huge procession.

Terming the cases booked against their leaders as wrong and illegitimate, the TDP cadres took out a massive procession in the city on Monday. TDP leaders Narasimha Yadav, Sridhar Varma, R.C. Munikrishna and B.G. Krishna Yadav, whose names were included in the case, also joined the protest rally.

Blocking the traffic at NTR Circle, the party members raised slogans demanding immediate recall of the cases filed against their leaders. Holding party flags, the four leaders went in a rally to Tirupati East police station and surrendered themselves.

In the same vein, the TDP leaders demanded action against former PCC joint secretary P. Naveen Kumar Reddy, who performed a funeral procession to the effigy of TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu as an act of retaliation.

“He committed the same offence by performing the last rites. Why is it that there are no cases filed against him?” they questioned.

Chittoor MP N. Sivaprasad and party’s district secretary G. Srinivasulu took part and expressed their support.
