NEW DELHI: After having completed preparation of list of nominees for the Lok Sabha seats in Andhra Pradesh, the Congress on Tuesday took up the exercise of finalising the names for the Assembly constituencies.
The party Central Election Committee, led by its in-charge Oscar Fernandes, and assisted by general secretary in-charge of Andhra Pradesh M. Veerappa Moily, Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy and APCC president D. Srinivas, is likely to take a few more days to complete the job as there were 294 Assembly constituencies.
Most of the sitting MLAs might get chance for facing re-election and in the remaining seats, opportunity would be given to young faces, it is said.
Both the Chief Minister and PCC president might return to Hyderabad only after completing the exercise as the CEC had been consulting them for understanding the background of each of the ticket seekers.
