Andhra Pradesh chapter of Students Islamic Organisation of India has expressed disappointment over silence and ambivalent attitude of Myanmar’s opposition leader and Nobel Laureate Aung San Suu Kyi towards a section of her compatriots known as Rohingyas, who live in Rekhnine province.

In a statement here on Thursday, President of AP SIO Zone, M. Atif Ismail, said that Rohingya Muslims have been termed the most persecuted religious minority in the world by United Nations.

Demanding that Rohingyas be granted Myanmar’s citizenship and equal rights, he said “we expect that Ms. Suu Kyi will stop neglecting the plight of her countrymen”.
