But those to Osmansagar and Himayatsagar remain insignificant
HYDERABAD: Singur received a staggering 7 tmc of inflows in the last two days bolstering the drinking water supply position of the twin cities. The inflows are equivalent to the entire year's allocation to the State Capital from Singur! On Monday itself, it received 2.072 tmc of inflows.
"What more, we are expecting greater inflows into Singur in the next couple of days," the Director, Technical, HMWSSB, M. Satyanarayana said here on Monday.
The total capacity of Singur is 30 tmc and a major share goes towards the irrigation needs of Medak district. At the rate of 120 million gallons per day, 7 tmc is enough to last almost a year.
While Manjira is flowing to the brim, the inflows into other two reservoirs - Osmansagar and Himayatsagar - were insignificant, he said. As against the total storage capacity of 39.816 tmc in all the five sources of drinking water to the city, including Krishna, the capacity on Monday was put at 19.320 tmc when compared to a mere 8.830 tmc on the same day last year.
Of this, Singur alone accounted for 14.622 tmc making it the mainstay of drinking water supply to the State Capital.
